The old and charming Slovak town of Poprad is located at the foot of the High Tatras on both sides of the Poprad River. The name Poprad is mentioned in writings as early as 1256. Locals call the city the “entrance gate” in the High Tatras. This is a very popular tourist city. Every year thousands of tourists from Slovakia and from abroad travel a considerable distance to get here and enjoy the picturesque nature, walks along narrow mountain trails, winter sports and rest in the thermal water park Aquasiti.
