Atmospheric Odessa. Part 6

Atmospheric Odessa. Part 6

The successful location of the city has long attracted people here - Greek colonies on its territory appeared in the ancient period. And during the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Russia, the port city of Kotsyubev appears here, the first written mention of which dates back to 1415. After the capture by the Turks, he began to be called Khadzhibey. At the end of the 18th century, the city was already captured by the Russian Empire. Then it was renamed Odessa. Very quickly Odessa became the main port of the entire Russian Empire - it was from here that Ukrainian grain was exported to the countries of Europe and Western Asia. This was facilitated by the regime of Porto Franco, introduced in 1819. Thanks to successful trade, the city developed dynamically, and by the end of the XIX century it became the largest city in Ukraine in size and the fourth in the entire empire. During the Ukrainian Revolution, Odessa became an important city within the UPR, but in the course of further hostilities it repeatedly changed hands until the Soviet regime was finally established there. Today Odessa is an extremely interesting and multifaceted city. This is not only the largest port of Ukraine, but also a place where people come to relax, enjoy the sea and unique atmosphere. We offer to plunge into it - it was for this that a series of routes in Odessa was created. This route includes Odessa Champagne Plant, ONU Botanical Garden, Odessa National Scientific Library, Holy Assumption Monastery and many other attractions.
