Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands and the main sea gate of Europe. Here, the energy of the harbor is combined with bold architecture and a love of experimentation. The route “Through Cubes and Bridges” leads from the Central Station and the Town Hall to the embankments of Maas, where museums, markets, coffee shops and city parks change each other easily and logically. Three stops that fall in love: - Markthal. Under the giant arch of the residential complex, an indoor market buzzes; on the ceiling there is a bright fruit-flower panorama, which the townspeople call the Horn of Plenty. Here you can feel the taste of the city - from cheeses to spicy herring. - Cubic houses. The block, where each house is tilted forty-five degrees, turns the street into a geometric game. One of the houses is open as a museum-apartment — look inside this “puzzle”. - Erasmus Bridge. A towering handsome, nicknamed Swan, connects the shores of the Maas; its reconnaissance section passes ships almost next to the pedestrian embankment — spectacular and very Rotterdamian. Interesting fact: The depot of the Boymans Museum — van Beningen is the world's first public art repository, where visitors can see how collections are kept. This walk offers new perspectives at every step, from historic facades to harbor panoramas and evening bridge lights. Let's go!
