Welcome to the second day of your trip to Rotterdam!
Rotterdam is often called the architectural capital of the Netherlands, but no less important is its maritime history. The city is located in the delta of the Maas River and has been developing as a trading port for more than 700 years. It was here that one of the most important maritime centers in Europe was formed, and modern skyscrapers grew up next to old harbors, lighthouses and port warehouses.
Today you will see:
Erasmusbrug (Bridge of Erasmus) is one of the main symbols of Rotterdam, an elegant bridge across the river Maas, which is nicknamed “The Swan” because of its shape.
Euromast is the most famous observation tower of the city, which offers a panoramic view of the port, the Maas River and the modern skyline of Rotterdam.
FENIX Museum of Migration is a new museum dedicated to the history of migration, located in a former port warehouse, from where ships with European emigrants once sailed to America.
Interesting fact:
The Erasmusbrug bridge is so important to the city that it is used as a symbol of Rotterdam — it appears in films, international events and even became part of the Tour de France when the race started in Rotterdam.
We wish you atmospheric walks in Rotterdam!
