Welcome to the first day of the Edinburgh route. For more than 300 years, the city was one of the most important ports and trading centres in Northern Europe, and its influence extended far beyond Scotland — from sea routes to royal diplomacy. Today you will see: Mount Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano and the highest natural point of the city. The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official Scottish residence of the British monarch, closely associated with the figure of Mary Stuart and the political conflicts of the 16th century. The Royal Yacht Britannia is a former royal yacht that served from 1954 to 1997 as a mobile residence and instrument of diplomacy of the British Empire, now moored in the Port of Leith. Little known fact: Holyrood Royal Park is one of the few places in Europe where an almost intact volcanic landscape is preserved within the capital. Pleasant impressions!
