Best of Dublin - Day 4

Welcome to the fourth final day in Dublin — one of the few European cities where the modern state was actually born in the city centre rather than in palaces. In 1916, the rebels proclaimed the independence of Ireland from the General Post Office building, and this event set off the chain that led to the creation of the republic.
Today you will see:
The St. Patrick's Cathedral is a spiritual symbol of the country and the largest cathedral in Ireland.
Christ Church Cathedral is the oldest sacred building in the city with an underground crypt.
The General Post Office is the building from which the modern Irish state actually began.
A less obvious but valuable fact: Marsh's Library, opened in 1707, has survived almost unchanged — even the cages where readers were once locked away so they wouldn't steal books are still in place. It is one of the few libraries in Europe where the space has remained authentic.
Walk slowly, look to the sides and take your time!
