Strasbourg is a city of water, half-timbering and cozy coffee shops, where it is easy to feel the rhythm of the day on the waterfront and in the neighborhoods with their history. I propose a one-day walk that gently takes you from art to the great ideas of Europe.
We start at the Museum of Modern and Modern Art, and in a few steps we go to the Vobana Dam with its spectacular terrace: from here you can see the Cretan bridges and Little France. Next are the cobbled streets to St. Thomas Church and the Historic Wine Cellar of the Hospices: it houses fifteenth-century wine, local pride and legend.
We head along the promenade to the Alsace Museum and the Roan Palace, and around the corner there is the Strasbourg Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Kammerzel House with its lacy wooden carvings. For lunch — the traditional Le Clou. Then there is Kleber Square, the Church of St. Peter the Younger, the Rhine Palace and the steep spires of St. Paul's Church. A respite in Greenhouse Park.
Finish is a quarter of European institutions: the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Parliament. Interesting fact: the historic center of Strasbourg is listed by UNESCO. The route is compact, colorful and very convenient for walking — take comfortable shoes and curiosity.
