Congratulations on the second day of your trip to Ljubljana!
Ljubljana stands on the site of the ancient Roman city of Emona, founded about 2000 years ago. Parts of the Roman walls are still preserved in the city center. Architect Joze Plecnik had a great influence on the modern look of the capital — it was he who created many bridges, squares and buildings that today form the recognizable style of Ljubljana. Due to the compactness of the city, it is very easy to combine old architecture, museums, parks and coffee houses literally within one walk.
Today will be:
Plecnik House is the home and studio of the most famous Slovenian architect, who actually shaped the modern look of Ljubljana.
Nebotičnik is one of the first skyscrapers in Europe, built in 1933, with a panoramic view of the city center and the Alps.
Tivoli Park is the largest park in Ljubljana with alleys, open-air galleries and recreation areas among greenery.
Interesting fact:
At the time of its opening, Nebotičnik was one of the tallest residential buildings in Europe and a symbol of the modernization of what was then Yugoslavia. In the 1930s, one of the fastest elevators in the region was even installed here.
Have a nice second day in Ljubljana! 😁
